A new permit for the demolition of historic 4th Ave. Theatre in downtown Anchorage — the focus of many efforts in recent years to save one of Alaska's most well-known landmarks — has been issued, according to information from the Municipality of Anchorage.

The second permit for demolition in recent years follows the application for one in 2016 that was shot down by an emergency ordinance from Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz just a day after contractors working for the owners of the theater submitted the request.
