Juneau Police have arrested a man who they say assaulted his 79-year-old adoptive father.

Police say 53-year-old Kevin Willis of Juneau assault the 79-year-old on Oct. 16. Police say witnesses told them they thought Willis would have killed the 79-year-old male if they hadn't stopped Willis.

During a search of the house, officers found blood on the carpet, walls, and furniture of one of the bedrooms where the assault allegedly took place.

In a news release, JPD says the 79-year-old told personnel at the ER he laid in bed for three days before regaining the strength to walk to the city bus stop to go to the hospital.

JPD said most of the man's face, head and neck were black and blue; both arms and legs had extensive bruising and there was a large open wound on his right arm.

The 79-year-old had bruising on his chest, stomach, and back; bruising on his inner thighs and a large open wound on his right lower leg that had become infected.

ER staff told police that due to the man's age, prior health condition, and lack of medical care for three days, the injuries sustained in the assault could have been life-threatening.

Willis was arrested for assault.
