"I've been here for four years, I've seen the worst and I've seen the best so far," said Peterson with a smile.

BOISE, Idaho — It took some end-of-game magic, but the College of Idaho found a way to beat 18th ranked Montana Tech 16-14 on Saturday afternoon. The No. 8 Yotes won thanks to a 58-yard field goal by kicker Kyle Mitchell to end the game.

This Top 25 matchup was a defensive battle for all four quarters.

Quarterback Darius-James Peterson scored the Yote's lone touchdown in the second quarter. Kicker Kyle Mitchell scored the rest of the Yotes' nine points.

Going into halftime, the Yotes held onto a 10-7 lead.

The third quarter ended with neither team lighting up the scoreboard.

Mitchell missed a 49-yard field goal in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, keeping the game at 10-7. His next kick from 45-yards out would be good and put the Yotes' up 13-7 with 5:06 left in the game.

Montana Tech's ensuing drive chewed up nearly four minutes and 45 seconds as they march 75 yards on 15 plays, en route to a rushing touchdown that would typically seal a win.

The Yotes got the ball back with 21 seconds left in the game to get into field goal range. Five plays and 35 yards later Mitchell ran back onto the field for a game-winning field goal.

The kick was from 58 yards out, his season-best going into this week was 34 yards against Carroll College. He made a 45-yard field goal earlier in the game, which is a school record, but missed from 49 yards. A 58-yard kick would test his leg strength.

The Yotes' 11-game winning streak and No. 8 national ranking depended on this field goal.

The Yotes' winning streak extends to 12-straight games and they are now 6-0 on the season.

Peterson ended the game 16 of 30 for 203 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Running back Nick Calzaretta had 110 yards on 27 carries, his fifth 100-yard game of the season.

Mitchell's three field goals is the first time in program history that a kicker has done so.

The Yotes take on the Southern Oregon Raiders (2-4, 2-3) in Ashland, OR. next Saturday at 2 p.m.
