UPDATE — Caleb James Door was charged with one count of felony arson and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest in Yellowstone County Justice Court Friday, according to court documents.

The documents state that Door was visiting the occupant of the apartment and their mutual child when he became intoxicated and belligerent.

The woman called Billings police, who helped remove him from the apartment.

Documents state that about 30 minutes later, Door returned to the residence and was knocking on her door and yelling.

About that time, the fire alarm went off, and the woman woke her daughter to leave the apartment.

When she opened the door, it was charred, and the hallway was smoky. She observed Door leaving the hallway.

Billings firefighters and police responded and determined that the fire was intentionally set.

Billings police caught the defendant shortly after in a nearby ditch.

According to police, Door first appeared cooperative, but then began reaching into his waistband and became combative with officers before they could apprehend him.

Door was transported to Yellowstone County jail, where a lighter was discovered on his person.

Door remains in jail.
