Whether you prefer Billings' annual Saturday Live Carnival indoors or outdoors, COVID-19 is dictating major changes to this year’s event.

On Thursday, organizers of one of Billings School District 2’s largest fundraisers announced the 27-year event, usually hosted in Pioneer Park, will add Daylis Stadium to its footprint, and transition from carnival to an all-day Fun Run.

Last fall, for the first time ever, Saturday Live moved indoors to Skyview High School, due to cold weather. Although popular, due to COVID concerns, organizers must move back outdoors.

This means the Fun Run that normally kicks off Saturday Live will be expanded to a full day Saturday Live Superhero Run, complete with T-shirts and prizes.

The fundraiser is set for Saturday Sept. 19. Families can take part virtually or register for a set time to join others for the 1-mile course. Registration can be completed online at www.efbps.org and each participant will receive a Saturday Live Superhero T Shirt. The cost of registration is $15 per participant. In addition, prizes will be provided for participants and schools.

For the last 27 years, Saturday Live has served as one of the most important fundraisers for Billings-area school PTAs and clubs as well as the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools. The Education Foundation for BPS provides programs including Reading Rocks, Classroom Grants, Partners in Education, and Back Pack Meals which has seen a significant increase in need during school closures. Saturday Live also raises money for books, science materials, technology, and instruments for kids in the Billings and surrounding communities.
