BILLINGS — The clouds are already beginning to roll into Billings ahead of the next cold front. However, the temperature has not changed much: It's still 90 degrees at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Around the rest the state, you can see where the cold front has already been. The temperatures out west are mainly into the 50s and 60s and a few low 70s. Back in the east, it’s mostly 90s.

The thunderstorm outlook for Thursday does show a marginal risk of severe storms across most of southern Montana and the eastern edge of the state as well.

Today's Weather Bobcast for Aug. 22, 2019

Only isolated thundershowers are expected in the northwest corner of Montana.

The Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows showers are mainly around western Montana, but a few radar returns around Billings can be contributed to insects and mainly grasshoppers.

The high-resolution forecast shows we could see some showers moving into south-central Montana and the Billings area Thursday afternoon as the schools let out.

The main push of rain will probably be around 6:30 p.m. for Billings. We expect mostly dry conditions in Billings Friday morning, but showers could be all around the area.

And it looks like the next shot at showers in Billings will be a shortwave disturbance that brings some scattered rain showers to Billings around 3 a.m. Friday.

Our temperatures will continue to be up around 90 degrees at 3 p.m. then roll back down to the 60s in the morning and back in the low 70s Friday afternoon.

We will top out at 77 degrees Friday up to 88 degrees Saturday, and then return to the 70s as we start up next week.
