UPDATE: Suicidal Man Barricaded Inside Fargo Apartment Found Dead

Police were on the scene for several hours Thursday night at the Cheyenne Estates apartments.

UPDATE – Fargo Police say the armed, suicidal man who barricaded himself in an apartment Thursday is dead.

Officers responded to the apartment around noon Friday.

“Our condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as they grieve their loss,” Fargo Police Spokesperson Jessica Schindeldecker said in a press release.

 

UPDATE – Fargo police tried unsuccessfully to coax an armed man out of an apartment building where he was holed up and threatening to harm himself.

Police were on the scene for several hours Thursday night at the Cheyenne Estates apartments. Residents were evacuated as police set up a perimeter and tried to convince the man to come out.

Authorities say the man made no threats to anyone else. After consulting with the man’s family, officers left the scene.

Police spokeswoman Jessica Schindeldecker says it was an attempt to de-escalate the situation. There’s no word Friday on the man’s condition.

FARGO, N.D. – Police are trying to reach an a suicidal man with a gun barricaded inside a South Fargo apartment.

Fargo Police spokesperson Jessica Schindeldecker says the manager of the Cheyenne Estates apartments at 1033 43rd 1/2 Street South evacuated the building before officers responded at 7:06 Thursday night.

Police have called the man multiple times, but he hasn’t picked up the phone.

“The male has made no threats to harm anybody else and we have no reason to believe he would harm anyone else Our goal is to get him the help he needs,” Schindeldecker said.
