Wichita police say they do not believe foul play is involved after a man's body found was found in the canal at I-135 and Hydraulic.

Police responded to the call of a man's body that had been found in the canal in the 700 block of N. Hydraulic around 2:20 p.m. on Friday.

Initially, officers searched the area for shell casings because they said they had received a call of shots fired in the same area on Thursday

But they said the man had no sign of visible trauma and had not been in the canal long. They said there is also no indication his death is connected to a crime or missing person.

Police say they do know the man's identity, but they are not releasing his name until next of kin is notified.
