A Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy received minor injuries and a sheriff's office K-9 was checked out at the scene following a two-vehicle crash reported a little after 9 p.m. Wednesday near McCormick and Meridian in south Wichita.

Wichita police say the driver of the vehicle that hit the deputy's patrol car accidentally ran a red light, possibly distracted by having a conversation with a passenger.

The crash damaged the front and driver's side of the patrol car. The deputy and the K-9 are expected to be okay and no one else was injured.
