Police identify man killed in NE Wichita shooting

Update: Monday, 10:30 a.m.

Wichita police release new details on a shooting at a family gathering in northeast Wichita, Saturday evening.

The man who was fatally shot has been identified as 35-year-old Justin Green.

Police say he, along with two other people were shot while in a parking lot at 17th and Grove.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old man showed up at the hospital later with a gunshot wound. That man was treated and released.

Then, on Monday, police say they met with a 22-year-old man who had multiple gunshot wounds. That man went to the hospital for treatment.

Police believe gang members were involved in the shooting, but they do not believe Green was in a gang.

Police have not made any arrests.

"There was multiple people involved in this." said Captain Brent Allred of the Wichita Police Department. "Multiple people shooting, and multiple people that got shot. And we're still trying to figure out everything that occurred out there."

Capt. Allred says they have not spoken with everyone who was at the gathering.

Update: Sunday 9:15 a.m.

Wichita Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in northeast Wichita Saturday evening.

Police told us Sunday morning that a 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were both outside of a venue at 17th and Grove during a family gathering.

There was some sort of disturbance between several people, and someone fired several shots, striking the two men.

The 35-year-old was struck in the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old was also struck, but was treated and released.

Police are looking for leads in the case, but say it was not a random incident.

Police are investigating after a man in his 30s was shot and killed Saturday at a family gathering in northeast Wichita.

Officers were called around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting at a venue near 17th and Grove.

Police say the victim was in the parking lot with a man in his 20s. Both men were part of the gathering taking place inside the venue.

Several shots were fired and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was shot but later treated and released from the hospital.

Police are still looking for the man.
