Man, teen arrested in SE Wichita deadly shooting

The Wichita Police Department identifies one of two people arrested for murder in connection with Monday night's deadly shooting near Harry and Oliver in southeast Wichita.

Police arrested 20-year-old Marcus Larmar on a charge of felony murder, aggravated robbery and an outstanding warrant. Police also arrested a 17-year-old male on a charge of felony murder and aggravated robber in the shooting death of 33-year-old Jerome Armbeck.

About 6 p.m. Monday, police responded to a shooting call in the 4600 block of East Boston.

"Upon arrival, Armbeck was found in an open field with multiple gunshot wounds to his body," Wichita police say. "A WPD officer began rendering life-saving aid until Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. Armbeck was pronounced dead on the scene."

The investigation revealed a disturbance between Armbeck, Lamar and the 17-year-old led to the shooting.

"This was not a random incident, and is drug-related," police say. "The investigation is ongoing and investigators will present the case to the Sedgwick District Attorney's Office."

Wichita police take two people into custody in reference to a shooting Monday night in the 4600 block of E. Boston.

Police say one person was taken into custody Tuesday morning. The other was taken into custody following an incident on Pawnee shortly before noon on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, police identified the shooting victim as 33-year-old Jerome Armbeck, of Wichita.

Wichita police have identified a man shot and killed near Harry and Oliver on Tuesday as 33-year-old Jerome Armbeck, of Wichita.

Police responded to the call of a shooting in the 4600 E. Boston around 6 p.m.

An officer attending a meeting in the area and quickly responded to the scene and found Armbeck in a field area with multiple gunshot wounds.

The officer rendered aid to Armbek until EMS arrived. He died at the scene.

Police learned through their investigation that there was a disturbance between Armbeck and several other individuals. A suspect shot Armbeck multiple times.

Police say the incident is not random and likely drug-related.

Wichita police identify a man in his 30s as the person killed in a Monday evening shooting near Harry and Oliver in southeast Wichita.

Wichita Police Lt. Ronald Hunt the man died at the scene in the 4600 block of East Boston. He says the shooting happened in a field.

Hunt says two possible suspects, in this case, may have been on bicycles and fled the scene northbound on Oliver. Hunt says officers are trying to talk with witnesses and encourages anyone or may have seen someone run through the nearby Clapp Golf Course or across Oliver at about 6 p.m. to call 911.

A heavy police presence follows a shooting reported Monday evening in the 4600 block of East Boston Street -- a little north of Harry and Oliver -- in southeast Wichita.

The Wichita Police Department confirms this is a homicide, but as of 7:45 p.m., didn't have further information regarding any possible search for a suspect or suspects.

Sedgwick County dispatch confirms the shooting call initially made about 6 p.m. Monday.
