Wichita police are investigating a shooting in North Riverside.

Officers were called to 19th and Burns around 4:10 a.m. after neighbors in the area called 911 to say they heard multiple gunshots.

Police arrived and made contact with a 38-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man who been shot in the lower part of his body.

They two told police they were driving home when they were approached by three men they didn't know who fired several gunshots. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers found shell casings from at least two different guns. The victim’s home was also found to be damaged from multiple gunshots.

Police are now working two scenes from the crime. The victim's home was also found to be damaged from multiple gunshots.

”It makes it slightly harder because now we have two crime scenes to work. that’s where we find him and the vehicle. And then we have the scene where they ask for shots were fired. So, it makes it a little bit more difficult but we can definitely handle that. We worked before that way," said Sgt. Paul Kimball with the Wichita Police Department.

Investigators are still working to gather all details of what occurred, and this is not believed to be a random incident.
