One Missouri man killed, another arrested in shooting near downtown Wichita

The Wichita Police Department Friday arrested an Independence, Mo. man in connection with a deadly shooting Friday morning south of downtown Wichita.

Police arrested 22-year-old Brandon Craig on a charge of first-degree murder.

Police say at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting call at a home in the 800 block of South Emporia. When they got there, officers found a man identified as 21-year-old Justin Lane, of Grain Valley, Mo. dead with a single gunshot would to the head.

"The investigation revealed Lane and Craig were visiting a friend who lived at the home," police say. "During the visit, a disturbance occurred between Craig and Lane. Craig fired one shot from a handgun, striking Lane in the head."

Police say the investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing and once complete, investigators will present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.
