Man critically hurt in SE Wichita fire

UPDATE: 8:10 a.m.

Arson investigators are on the scene of a fire at a home in Southeast Wichita.

According to police, a man in his 40s was threatening to harm himself inside a home in the 600 block of S. Woodlawn, that's between Kellogg and Lincoln.

A woman in the home called 911.

When fire crews arrived, they found fire inside the home. They also found that the man tried to expose a gas line by pulling the stove out from the wall.

He was taken to Via Christi's burn unit for treatment of potentially critical injuries.

The woman was not hurt.

Police say there is extensive damage inside the home.

Fire crews are on the scene of a house fire in the 600 block of South Woodlawn.

Crews were called to a report of a fire at a triplex in that area early Monday morning.

We do know one person suffered potentially critical injuries. Emergency medical crews are taking care of that person.

No word yet on a cause.
