Overnight storms leave damage in parts of south central Kansas

Parts of south central Kansas saw damage from a strong storm system that moved through overnight.

90 mile per hour winds were reported, damaging trees and property.

An RV at Kansas International Dragway was toppled. Two car windows were blown out and a roof was ripped off in the Valley Center area.

Organizers cancelled the Symphony in the Flint Hills after the event site sustained extensive damage. The group organizing the event says tents were blown over and damaged. Volunteers are working to restore the event area.

We also have reports of wind blowing down trees in Nickerson and other areas.

Thousands of customers lost power overnight. Most in Sedgwick and surrounding counties. At one point, there were more than 8,000 people without power. You can track power outages here:
