Presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke makes stop in Wichita

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke made an unannounced visit to Wichita on Tuesday.

O'Rourke said he was in town "going to communities that have for too long been forgotten and counted out—not only to learn about their challenges but to learn about how they're overcoming them. Grateful that Councilman Johnson would welcome us to Wichita and that Angelo would host us at R Coffee House."

Councilman Brandon Johnson also tweeted about O'Rourke's visit to R Coffeehouse, 1144 Bitting St., near Riverside Park.

"It's not everyday that someone running for President of the United States visits Wichita, but today it happened at R Coffeehouse!" Johnson said on Twitter. "Thank you @BetoORourke for taking time to speak with Wichitans about the issues that matter!#ILoveWichita."

Beto then made a trip to Kansas City, Missouri, where grabbed some barbecue.

"They said I couldn't come to the state without stopping in at Gates BBQ—and once we finished lunch, I had to meet Mr. Gates himself," said the candidate.

O'Rourke is currently one of 23 Democratic candidates running in the 2020 presidential election.
