A second company adds more rides to Wichita's scooter fleet. Veroride's personal transportation devices are now scattered across the city.

Veroride brought 290 scooters to Wichita. Adding to Zagster's existing fleet in the city, there are now 790 electric scooters in town.

The first fleet of scooters arrived about a month ago, and so far, Wichtans have an overall mixed reaction to the new way to get around town.

Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell says a lot of that feedback came from people not following the rules.

Among those rules is that only one person can be on the scooter and you cannot ride on sidewalks. The riders are limited to city streets where the speed limit is 35 mph or slower.

He says discussion about the pilot program's future includes all of the feedback from people using the new scooters.

"We want to make sure we have something the community feels good about and feels safe," Longwell says. "But if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. "We'll do the evaluation at a later time."
