Students at Wichita middle school endure day without air conditioning

Concentrating in a classroom on a hot day can be difficult, especially if you don't have air conditioning.

That was the situation at Hamilton Middle School where the air conditioning wasn't working Monday. Students say teachers relied on fans to try and keep them cool and gave students frequent water breaks.

Hamilton student Larauj Gary says Monday was worse than Tuesday. He says gym class was especially difficult Monday. The situation overall improved Tuesday, he says, with "fans and stuff everywhere."

USD 259 officials say the air conditioning is fixed.
