1 hurt after train, vehicle collide south of Wichita

One person was hurt following after a vehicle collided with a train a little before 7 p.m. Monday on K-15, south of Wichita.

Sedgwick County emergency dispatch confirmed the driver of the car was initially listed in serious condition, but our crew on scene learned that driver's injuries were minor.

As the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and worked to clear the scene, K-15 was closed in both directions between 47th Street South and MacArthur.

The road reopened a couple hours later with the scene cleared from a crash the sheriff's office says could have had a far worse outcome.
