Prices at the pump jumped overnight in the Wichita area. Several stations are now selling a gallon of gas for $2.09.

The average price for a gallon of gas in Kansas is $2. That's still 40 cents cheaper than this same time last year.

AAA says jumps are pretty common and there are a lot of different factors that move prices.

"You really don't know when gas prices are going to jump up overnight, the good thing is in Kansas, we are still 7th cheapest in the country. So, we're still about 20 cents or more below the national average. So, overall we have it really good here in Kansas," said Shawn Steward, Public Affairs Manager with AAA of Kansas.

To save on gas, make sure your car is properly tuned up, have a clean air filter, make sure your tires are properly aired up, avoid jackrabbit starts and maintain the speed limit.

Despite the increase in gas prices, you can still find it for under $2 at some stations. Find those locations
