AUSTIN (KXAN) — Love them or hate them, e-scooters have become ingrained in Austin.

There’s a lot that’s appealing about e-scooters, like the fact that they’re dockless and you can leave them anywhere, but that’s also why they’re clogging up our sidewalks.

The Austin Transportation Department stepped up Friday to try and help with the city’s scooter congestion problem.

Crews installed parking boxes today for dockless vehicles like electronic scooters and bikes. There are now 7 along Third through Sixth streets, and they plan to install 30 more.
