One man who was at a bar Thursday night in Cartwright says he saw law enforcement all down 2nd Avenue, as they were arresting a 21-year-old man who was wanted for homicide in California.

"They had this town covered. There was no way in, out of this town last night," said Richard Olson, who saw the heavy law enforcement presence Thursday night in Cartwright.

Richard Olson was at the Dam Bar during the arrest of Edward Russell Smith, and Olson says he's friends with members of local law enforcement and claims he already knew what was about to happen.

"I was informed that something's going to go down pretty severe with law enforcement Thursday. So I gave a heads up to friends," said Olson.

Smith was arrested by OHP, after Riverside, Calif. Police called Oklahoma Authorities to give them his location.

A representative from the Riverside Police Department says Smith is accused of homicide, and have been looking for him since September 1st.

"I wanted to help but I didn't have my pistol with me. They had it taken care of. If something happens outside this door, and somebody was trying to harm somebody, I would have helped," said Olson.

Smith is in the Bryan County jail.

"The officers did an awesome job. Whoever set it up did a good job," said Olson.

A representative from the riverside police department says they will be in Cartwright investigating this case more in the coming days.
