Oklahoma beginning Phase 3 reopening June 1

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt announced the state will begin Phase 3 of its reopening plan on June 1.

Under Phase 3 of the

, businesses will be able to resume unrestricted staffing at worksites. The plan states businesses operating by appointment only can begin accepting walk-ins. Industry-specific guidelines ate available on the

“We are making responsible decisions based on the data in our state,” Stitt said in a news release. “While cases continue to decline 36 days into our reopening, it is important Oklahomans remember COVID-19 is still in the United States and we must continue to be diligent about washing our hands frequently, maintaining physical distance and protecting our most vulnerable populations.”

Hospital visitation is allowed to resume under Phase 3. The visitation changes are to be implemented at the discretion of each hospital.

While medical facilities are allowed visitors, the state says visitation will remain suspended at nursing homes and long-term care facilities until lifted by a future executive order. The continued suspension for visitation is due to a higher impact for COVID-19 on elderly and immunocompromised patients.

Free COVID-19 testing continues to be available to all Oklahoma residents at more than 80 locations across the state.

As of Friday, Oklahoma has 708 active COVID-19 cases with 5,236 recoveries. The state has performed 188,665 tests.
