BISMARCK – Last week, we told you the Infrastructure of North Dakota was graded for the first time.

And the results were not good.

The report card was issued by the North Dakota Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Overall the state earned a “C” grade…but bridges received one of the lowest grades at a D-plus.

The report said it wasn’t because of bridges maintained by the Department of Transportation but rather city and county bridges.

We talked with Bismarck officials who tell KX News, you have nothing to fear when using a city or county bridge.

“All of our bridges in Bismarck are inspected on a two year basis, by the Department of Transportation and they give us a report card that tells us all of the information that we need to know and they are an excellent resource  to ask questions if there is something that needs to be repaired or rehabilitated but all the Bridges in Bismarck are safe to drive over or under”. Said Bismarck City Engineer Gabe Schell.

He adds no major bridge work is planned this construction season because the dozen or so bridges the city maintains are all in good health.
