James Doty has been the owner of Doty Trash Service for 35 years. He was born and raised in Aurora, Mo.

While he says he has always given back to his community, he has a problem with one of his neighboring businesses, Suddenlink.

On Friday, one of Doty's employees parked a truck outside to run into the business to do paperwork. Doty says his employees were only there for a couple of minutes. Doty says the district manager of Suddenlink came into his office Friday demanding the truck be moved. Doty was not there. After hearing about the incident from his daughter, Doty told his employee to just get back in his truck and leave. Doty says he then spoke to the police chief of Aurora.

"He said well next time it happens give us a call and we'll come take of it," said Doty.

Doty said Suddenlink along with another neighboring business parks their trucks outside his business and block the alley way. He said he has mentioned it several times at city council meetings, but nothing is done about it.

Doty says the trucks will be parked there until he decides to move them, despite the fact the parking job is in violation of city ordinances.

Aurora City Manager Jon Holmes said citations have been issued and a barricade has been put in place to block people from entering the square for safety concerns.

"If cars go down this street in the middle of the night when it gets dark and that sort of thing to run into that equipment," said Holmes.

This is a citizen taking the law into his own hands, inconveniencing and being a problem for the whole city," said Holmes.

We asked the Aurora Police for a comment, but they said no. We also reached out to the corporate office of Suddenlink as well as an agent and received no comment.
