A century old landmark in downtown Springfield is getting a facelift.

It will soon be more of "hands-on" history at the Springfield History museum.

The city of Springfield might be one place that travelers bypass on a map, but locals know it has a story all on its own.

The Springfield History Museum was built in 1913 and a home to different businesses over the years. For the past few years, renovations have been made to bring the rich history of the Ozarks back to life.

Krista Adams has been part of the renovation process. She took KY3 on a tour of the brand new interactive exhibits to show what awaits families this summer. Visitors can find artifacts, videos, interactive stations, and so much more. But there is also a surprise exhibit, that won't be shown to anyone until opening day!

Adams say they hope to be open just in time for the Route 66 Festival in August 2019.
