She joins cricketer Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff, who was announced as Lancashire's first official ambassador in September.
"I feel so connected with being Lancastrian, especially since I went to Lancaster University first and then to UCLan, and my first jobs in my career were in Blackpool and Blackburn.
Rachel McQueen, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said: “Ranvir is a wonderful champion of her home county and as Chancellor of University of Central Lancashire, is also an incredible role model for so many young people set on careers in media and broadcast journalism.
The appointment was announced ahead of a Lancashire Day event being held at the House of Commons, hosted by Andrew Stephenson MP and attended by MPs and representatives from the Department of International Trade, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, the National Farmers Union, Visit England, Virgin Trains and Lancastrians in London.
