A Preston man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after crashing into parked cars in a Preston side street.

The driver, who is 38-years-old, was arrested in the early hours of this morning (May 23) after crashing into parked vehicles close to the mini roundabout where St George's Road meets Harewood Road in Deepdale.

Officers from Lancashire Police responded to the incident at around 5.20am.

The arrested man has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.

A police spokesperson told LancsLive: "One vehicle has stuck a number of parked vehicles.

"The driver has been taken to hospital but isn't believed to have any serious injuries.

"He is under arrested for drug driving and dangerous driving."

Officers are still at the scene, with the road remaining closed to traffic since around 5.40am.

A second police spokesperson said: "Please be advised that St George’s Road is currently closed between Deepdale Road and the Roundabout at the Juction of Harewood Rd and St George’s Rd.

"Please find an alternative route whilst emergency services deal with a Road Traffic Collision."
