Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a commercial building in Preston.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Inglewhite Road at 4.40pm today (May 27).

Six fire engines are currently at the scene with a road closure reportedly in place.

The fire involves an outbuilding with a silo attached.

Residents in the local area are being advised to close windows and doors as a precaution if they are affected by the smoke.

In a statement, LRFRS said: "Firefighters from Fulwood were called tor reports of a building fire at a property on Inglewhite Road, Preston.

"The fire is involving an outbuilding approximately 5 metres by 20 metres with a silo attached.

"Further support was requested and there are now firefighters from Preston, Longridge, Bamber Bridge and Garstang also in attendance.

"Currently four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using one main jet and a hose reel to tackle the fire.

"No casualties have been reported, however residents living in the nearby vicinity are advised to close their windows and doors as a precaution if they are being affected by smoke from the fire.

One eyewitness posted on social media: "Police have Inglewhite Road blocked about a mile before Inglewhite at the top of Langley Lane."
