Police are investigating a 'suspicious' fire which started at a home in Lancaster.

At around 9.15pm on Sunday evening (May 10), firefighters were called to a blaze at a property on Mainway.

The 'domestic' incident resulted in the use of six fire engines from Morecambe, Lancaster, Bolton-le-Sands and Carnforth and an aerial ladder platform was used.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire on the third floor.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.

Police have since confirmed that the fire is being treated as 'suspicious'.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary, said: "At 9.20pm yesterday (Sunday) to reports of a fire at an address on Mainway in Lancaster.

"It’s not clear from the log how many people were in the property at the time but it doesn’t look like anybody was injured. It’s currently being treated as suspicious and enquires are ongoing."
