Bourbon on the Banks Festival in Frankfort will be Oct. 24

bourbon on the banksFRANKFORT, Ky. — The 2nd annual Bourbon on the Banks Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 in Frankfort, the board of directors for the Bourbon on the Banks Festival Inc., a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, announced recently.

Bourbon on the Banks continues to be the commonwealth’s premier bourbon tasting, history and judging festival. During the festival you will learn more about the bourbon industry and its economic impact to Kentucky.

Attendees will learn from nationally-recognized master distillers, bourbon educators and authors and watch chef demonstrations while sampling their innovative creations (a foodies’ delight) all while strolling the banks of the scenic Kentucky River in historic downtown Frankfort. In addition to all the great bourbon and cocktail samplings from regional and national distilleries, the festival will offer tastings from local craft beer producers and world-class wineries, food pairing from award-winning chefs, and live music and entertainment.

Highlighting the day of activities will be the main ticketed event “Bourbon on the Banks.” Included in each ticket are tastings from 60-plus bourbon, spirits, wine and beer vendors, 20 food vendors, and live music from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Riverview Park & Ward Oates Amphitheater. This event will be capped off by a fine and rare bourbon auction from 5-6 p.m. Thousands of visitors from across the nations are expected to attend.

A free community event “Bourbon Street on Broadway” in downtown Frankfort will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees will be enchanted as we transform Frankfort’s Broadway Street, be entertained by street performers and enjoy live music while dining on offerings from our downtown merchants as well as regional food and beverage vendors.

Closing out the day of activities will be the “Bourbon on the Banks After Party” in downtown Frankfort from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. The streets of downtown will be shut down to create a one of a kind event.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Kentucky State University Scholarships, Downtown Frankfort Inc. and the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.

A list of all of the festival’s events is available on the official Bourbon on the Banks Festival website. Tickets are on sale now: www.bourbononthebanks.org.

The Bourbon on the Banks Festival committee is comprised of over 50 Frankfort/Franklin County community volunteers that have been instrumental in the establishment and promotion of this festival.
