LANSING — You're not imagining it: June has been gloomy.

And forecasters predict more wet weather is in store.

As of Sunday, it had rained half the days this month.

It's been colder and wetter than normal, data from the National Weather Service shows.

Lansing's average temperature this June has been 63 degrees, 2.7 degrees below historic averages.

Temperatures haven't climbed past the low 80s this month. June 7 and 8 were the hottest days so far, with highs of 81 degrees, according to preliminary NWS data.

June 3 was especially chilly, with a low of 42 degrees.

Lansing has seen 4.76 inches of rain in June ― nearly 3 inches more than what is typical.

Sunshine has been scarce. There were only six clear days in June, preliminary NWS data shows.

Half of all June days, eight as of Sunday, have been partly cloudy. Two days were so overcast that cloud cover exceeded 80%.

More rain expected to fall in Lansing region

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be rain-free in the Lansing-area, the NWS predicts, although clouds and fog could darken skies.

Rain may return later this week. There's a 40% chance of showers during the day Wednesday and a 50% chance of showers Thursday.

Highs temperatures this week are projected to reach the low to mid 70s.

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 75 degrees, but rainy weather is likely to rear its head after that respite.

"Not good news there," Ernie Ostuno, a forecaster with the Grand Rapids branch of the NWS said. "I don't think it lets up anytime soon."
