LANSING -- Michigan State Police officials want to hear from Lansing-area businesses that have experienced cyberattacks within the past two weeks.

Officials have heard rumors of cyberattacks over that period while investigating a confirmed attack on Breadsmith bakery at 4901 Okemos Road in Okemos.

"We're kind of hearing things through some rumor mills that there may be other businesses," said Shanon Banner, a department spokeswoman. "If this is a larger problem, we certainly would like to know about it."

People who work at businesses that have experienced a cyberattack in the past two weeks are encouraged to email the state police's Cyber Command Center at mc3@michigan.gov.

Michigan State Police officials seek information from Lansing area business owners about any cyberattacks that have occurred over the past two weeks.

The Breadsmith bakery in Okemos had its computer infected with a virus last week that kept its employees from accessing labeling information for its products and recipes.

Products couldn't be shipped to four Lansing area Kroger stores and Horrocks Farm Market for a week until the matter was resolved Friday, Breadsmith store owner Kent Seggebruch said.

"This thing has literally left my head spinning," Seggebruch said Friday of the cyberattack. "This is my livelihood. In addition to my livelihood, this is the livelihood of 20 other people that I employ."

As for Friday, Breadsmith products had been restocked at Kroger stores in Okemos, East Lansing, Delta Township and Holt, Seggebruch said, and at Horrocks.
