Suspect in custody after Lansing man killed in Saturday shooting

LANSING — A 21-year-old Lansing man was killed in a shooting inside a business in south Lansing, police said. 

Officers arrived at the business in the 5100 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday and found the man with multiple gunshot wounds, Interim Chief Daryl Green said.

The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police are waiting to release his name until all necessary family members have been notified. 

Police took a 21-year-old man into custody shortly after the shooting, Green said. He does not believe this was a random event.

A large group of officers were gathered around the door ofPlush Hair Studio shortly after the shooting occurred. 

"We really need the help, as usual, from the public. They're going to be the ones who solve this crime," Green said. "There's a family out there that's hurting, and we want to do all we can do to get the truth."
