LANSING — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting while playing basketball late Tuesday on Lansing's east side, police said.

The boy told police he was at Stabler Park in the 700 block of Allen Street playing basketball when he got into an argument with another player, Lansing Police Public Information Director Robert Merritt said.

The argument turned physical, and the other player pulled out a gun and shot the 16-year-old, Merritt said.

He was struck in the leg by the bullet, and he ran home and was taken to a local hospital, Merritt said. Police were called to the hospital to begin their investigation.

Police ask for any witnesses to the shooting or anyone with information reach out to them at 517-543-4600.
