Police investigate shooting death of teen in northeast Lansing

LANSING — Police are investigating after an 18-year-old died Sunday of a gunshot wound.

Officers responded shortly after 11 a.m. to a report of shooting in northeast Lansing at the 100 block of West Fairfield Avenue. First-responders transported the male victim to a local hospital, where he later died. Police are not releasing his name at this time.

Investigators say they have identified all parties involved in the shooting.

"Initial information suggests this was not a random incident and there is no current threat to the public," a Lansing Police Department news release states.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
