STOCKBRIDGE — A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat made against Stockbridge High School Monday, police said.

Stockbridge Police Department Chief Johnnie Torres said police made the arrest Monday, and the juvenile is lodged in the Ingham County Juvenile Detention Center in Lansing.

The case will be turned over to the prosecutor's office to determine if charges are warranted.

The high school was evacuated Monday morning after a bomb threat targeted the school. The school was deemed safe after police swept the building.

High school students were sent to the fire station on Clinton Street after officials discovered the threat, said John Beck, general manager of the Stockbridge Area Emergency Services Authority. Most of them had left for home by 10:45 a.m. Monday.

The district placed its elementary schools on external lockdown "out of an abundance of caution," Superintendent Karl Heidrich said Monday. The students were sent home at 11:45 a.m. because of the threat and Monday's snow storm.

Stockbridge schools are also closed Tuesday due to road conditions.
