Lansing officer injured in Sunday morning crash

A Lansing police officer was injured Sunday during a crash at South Ceder Street and East Holmes Road.

LANSING – A Lansing police officer was hospitalized Sunday after a vehicle crashed into his cruiser.

A vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man crashed into the officer after 1 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of South Cedar Street and East Holmes Road, the Lansing Police Department said. The man hit a third vehicle during the crash.

The officer and the driver of the third vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Alcohol was likely a factor and the crash remains under investigation, police said.

Police have not yet identified the officer.

Police closed the intersection for almost two hours.
