Lansing man seriously injured in collision, airlifted to hospital

A 56-year-old Lansing man was airlifted to a Kalamazoo hospital Monday morning after a two-vehicle collision in Eaton County.

The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Cochran Road and East Vermontville Highway, just north of Charlotte, Eaton County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jerri Nesbitt said

A crossover SUV traveling southbound on North Cochran Road collided with a pickup traveling on East Vermontville Highway, Nesbitt said.

The driver of the pickup, identified as a 56-year-old Lansing man, was pulled from his vehicle by Charlotte Fire Department personnel and transported by West Michigan Air Care helicopter to a Kalamazoo hospital.

Nesbitt said the man suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening

The driver of the crossover, identified as a 24-year-old man from Grand Ledge, was transported to Sparrow Hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Charlotte fire and the Eaton County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident along with personnel from the Michigan State Police and the Benton Township Fire Department.
