Snow, cold could make for hazardous morning commute in Lansing

LANSING - Snow showers and bitter cold temperatures could make for slippery roads on Monday night and Tuesday morning, forecasters said.

Snow and very cold temperatures could leave roads slick during the morning commute Tuesday in the Lansing area.

Less than an inch of snow is expected in the Lansing region, with temperatures falling into the mid-20s overnight, the National Weather Service said. Most of the white stuff will come by late Monday night, but there's a chance of snow showers after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

"We always tell people that, any time it's snowing, there could be slick spots on roads," said Heather Orow, a weather service meteorologist based in Grand Rapids.

Tuesday will be a very cold day, with highs of around 31 degrees and a west-northwest wind that will make it feel much colder, Orow said.

Temperatures will plunge to around 19 degrees overnight Tuesday.

Highs will be in the mid-30s on Wednesday and around 40 degrees on Thursday and Friday, the weather service said. There's a chance of rain or snow showers on Thursday night and Friday.
