LANSING - A driver was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash that closed a major south Lansing thoroughfare and caused a power outage.

Police are investigating a crash that closed a south Lansing thoroughfare on Tuesday night.

The crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. at South Cedar Street and Jolly Road.

A vehicle struck a utility pole and knocked out electrical power for some nearby residents, Lansing police Sgt. Marcus Johnson said. A 42-year-old Lansing man was in stable condition at a hospital, he said.

As of 10:30 p.m., about 278 Lansing Board of Water & Light customers in south Lansing were without power, according to the utility's outage map.

Johnson said he didn't know what caused the crash, which prompted police to close Jolly Road entirely at Cedar.
