No more dubs: Menna's Joint closes East Lansing location
RJ WolcottEAST LANSING - A mainstay of late-night dining for Michigan State University students has shut its doors.
Menna's Joint, "home of the dub", announced the closure of its East Lansing location on Facebook earlier this month.
"After 15 plus years in East Lansing, Menna’s Joint was unable to secure new lease terms at its current location on Abbott Street in East Lansing," its post reads. The post goes on to urge customers to visit the restaurant's other locations in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Mt. Pleasant.
Menna's Joint opened its doors in East Lansing in 2003. Much has been made of a rivalry between Menna's and Conrad's Grill, established in 2007 by Joe Conrad, who was previously involved with Menna's.
Menna's co-Chairman Henry Andries Jr. could not be immediately reached for comment.
Menna's menu was dominated by dubs, consisting of meats and veggies wrapped up like a burrito.
On its website, Menna's says it is "the American burrito and "the new fast food!"
