LANSING - Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, there's another winter storm on the horizon.

The Lansing region will get a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain from Tuesday night through Wednesday night, possibly causing hazardous road conditions and power outages, forecasters said.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 1 p.m. Wednesday in much of south-central and southwest Michigan, including the Lansing area, the National Weather Service said.

There's a chance of snow and sleet before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the Lansing region, following by freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet, the weather service said

About three-tenths of an inch of ice is possible overnight, along with less than a half-inch of new snow and sleet, the agency said. More freezing rain is possible on Wednesday, with a total new accumulation of about one-tenth of an inch. Some parts of the region could get higher amounts.

The rain will freeze onto trees and power lines and could cause power outages and slippery roads, forecasters said.

Wednesday's high will be around 35 degrees. Thursday will be warmer and rainy, with highs in the mid-40s.

Colder air is expected to move back in through the weekend, with highs in the mid-20s on Friday and Saturday and around 30 degrees on Sunday.
