Lansing man, 69, dies after falling from boat in Barry County

CASTLETON TWP. - A Lansing man died after falling from a boat in eastern Barry County, police said.

A Lansing man died Tuesday after falling out of a boat, police said.

The Barry County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Edward Louis Phillips, 69.

Deputies were called to the area of Camp Thornapple on Thornapple Lake, near Hastings, about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday and found Phillips' body floating near a drifting boat, sheriff's officials said in a news release.

The man was not wearing a life jacket, they said. Foul play is not suspected.
