1 dead, 4 wounded in Sunday morning shooting in Lansing

LANSING - One man is dead and four other people wounded after a shooting early Sunday on Lansing's south side.

Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. off West Miller Road and Balfour Drive on a call of a large party and shots fired, Lansing police said in a news release.

Officers found people inside and outside of a home with gunshot injuries.

Police said a Jackson man, 22, died at a local hospital. His name has not been released.

Four others are being treated at local hospitals for injuries, police said.

Crime scene laboratory personnel from the Michigan State Police are assisting at the scene.

Detectives from Lansing police and MSP are both conducting the homicide investigation.

An autopsy is expected to be completed on the Jackson man.
