Lansing man killed in Waverly Road crash identified

A Lansing man was killed in a rollover crash Sunday morning on Waverly Road.

DELHI TOWNSHIP — Police have identified the Lansing man killed in a crash on Waverly Road on Sunday morning. 

James Lewis Thompson, 46, was killed in the one-vehicle crash after he was ejected from the vehicle, according to a Michigan State Police news release.

His passenger, a 20-year-old Lansing man, was hospitalized with injuries.

Police responded to the crash on Waverly Road north of Bishop Road on Sunday at about 3:45 a.m.

The vehicle had been driving northbound when it left the roadway, hit a traffic sign and rolled over several times, the release states. 

Waverly Road remained closed for hours after the crash.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash. They said their preliminary investigation indicates alcohol was a factor.
