LANSING - Despite online speculation staff at Golden Harvest, a small breakfast spot on the fringe of Lansing's Old Town, have put away their spatulas for good, the restaurant hasn't permanently closed, owner Vanessa Vicknair said.

The 30-seat eatery known for its scratch food and loud music has been closed since mid-March when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer banned dine-in service at restaurants.

The closure came less than four months after a crumbling roof, ancient pipes, faulty ventilation system and aging kitchen equipment at the building on Turner Street led to frequent and unexpected closures last November.

A plea for help to pay those expenses through an online fundraiser generated more than $3,000.

Nearly a dozen restaurant and coffee shops have closed in Greater Lansing since March and Golden Harvest customers pondered the eatery's fate in a thread on Reddit this week without clarity on whether it would reopen.

Vicknair said it will but not until restrictions on indoor dining capacity are eased.

"We are not closing," she said through a message on Facebook. "Our space is so small we do not have any way to distance safely. We would not be able to use any of the counter, and only a few tables."
