Rent report: Las Cruces vs. Albuquerque vs. Santa Fe

A recently released New Mexico Rent Report, from RENTCafé, compares apartment rents in the four largest cities in the state: Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe.

Las Cruces is the most affordable city for renters, with the average rent clocking in at $822. Apartment prices went up by a modest 2.1% ($17) over the year.

Albuquerque rents went up by 5.9%, or $51, compared to December 2018, averaging $919. 

The average rent in Rio Rancho is $934, which is $32 more compared to last year.

Santa Fe rents are still the most expensive in the state, up by 6.1% ($71) over last year. The city now boasts an average rent of $1,237..

Nationally, the average rent is $1,474, a yearly increase of $43.
