A Lebanon County man died this morning in a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to state police.

Lyle N. Garvey, 31, of Myerstown died at the scene from his injuries, state police said.

The crash happened around 6:41 a.m. on the westbound side in the area of mile marker 251.4 in Dauphin County. It is between the Lebanon-Lancaster (Exit 266) and the Harrisburg East (Exit 247) exits, according to state police and the turnpike.

State police say Garvey was driving in the left westbound lane when he lost control of his vehicle. The 2011 GMC Terrain traveled out of control across the right lane and onto the shoulder, where it struck a truck that was parked because of a previous crash.

After hitting the truck, Garvey's vehicle went up an embankment where it finally stopped, the news release states.

State police say the vehicle was traveling too fast in the heavy rain.
