A TEENAGER attacked a man while he was sitting in his car and struck him with 50 blows.

Liam Davies had also kicked his victim, Mold Crown Court was told.

Davies, 18, of Nant y Coed in Holywell, admitted a wounding charge and was sentenced to 18 months youth custody.

Judge Niclas Parry told Davies, who had no previous convictions, that his case was in the highest category of seriousness and was nothing other than “frenzied and ferocious”.

Kicking was akin to using a weapon and the case was aggravated by the victim’s appalling injuries.

They included a fractured eye socket and a broken jaw and would have a long-term effect upon the victim.

The fact that he had acted under the influence of alcohol was an aggravating feature.

Judge Parry said he took into account that Davies was a young man who had never been in any trouble before.

He had clearly acted out of character.

As Davies was taken from the dock to the cell block he raised his hand and acknowledged the victim apologetically.

The court heard an investigation began after a member of the public alerted police to an abandoned vehicle with blood on it.

It was found to be owned by Bradley Allman who at the time was in hospital with serious injuries

He had significant head injuries and at the time was undergoing CT scan.

Among his injuries were a fractured eye socket and a broken jaw.

CCTV footage was obtained which showed Mr Allman sitting in his vehicle in Holywell, Davies approached him and struck him 50 times.

He kicked him and also jumped on the car causing damage.

The court heard there was an alleged dispute involving Davies’ girlfriend and the complainant had agreed to meet Davies to find out what his problem was.

Defence barrister Mark Connor said his client was only 18 and had clearly acted out of character.

Mr Connor urged the court to consider a suspended sentence.

In a victim impact statement Mr Allman told how he had post-traumatic stress and suffered mentally, socially and financially.
